M3 Melbourne Data Centre
About Project
The M3 Melbourne Data Centre, developed by NEXTDC, is a next-generation technology hub located in West Footscray, just 10 km from Melbourne’s CBD. Designed to support enterprise and government organisations, the facility delivers over 41,000 m² of technical space and targets up to 320MW of critical IT capacity, making it one of Australia’s most advanced digital infrastructure platforms. With direct, ultra-low latency connectivity to public and private cloud ecosystems, M3 serves as a powerful gateway for businesses seeking scalable, high-performance hybrid IT environments.
Built to the highest global standards, M3 operates as a 100% fault-tolerant Uptime Tier IV certified facility, ensuring maximum reliability and resilience. The data centre is engineered for 23,000+ racks across 41 data halls, supported by advanced cooling systems, redundant power infrastructure, and N+1 redundancy across critical systems. It also delivers industry-leading energy efficiency with a target PUE of approximately 1.25–1.29, alongside sustainable design practices and carbon-neutral options, enabling organisations to optimise both performance and environmental impact.
M3 Melbourne is more than a data centre—it is a fully integrated digital ecosystem. The facility provides secure, geo-diverse interconnections, enabling seamless integration with cloud platforms, networks, and other data centres. With features such as 24/7 onsite security, biometric access control, advanced fire protection systems, and disaster recovery capabilities, businesses benefit from unmatched security and operational continuity. Backed by NEXTDC’s 100% uptime guarantee, M3 empowers organisations to accelerate digital transformation, support AI workloads, and build resilient, future-ready infrastructure for long-term growth.
